Student Health & Wellness

The Health Suite serves as a safe place that encourages open communication between the nurse and the family to ensure each and every child has a healthy, safe, and successful school year.

High Quality Care

Gulf Stream School has a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (NP), Melissa Wynne, on staff who aims to provide compassionate and high quality care to GSS students. Often, you will see a NP in a pediatric office, however, at GSS, our NP acts as the first point of care ensuring student health and safety.

In addition to tending to injuries and illnesses, the NP may communicate with the family and/or pediatrician to initiate or participate in plans of care for a student; including but not limited to immunizations, medication, common illnesses, and well-child exams. And may also communicate with teachers, counselors, or other faculty members regarding the student and any potential illness or concerns.

Safety Is Our Priority

While the School is located in a beautiful and serene residential neighborhood, campus safety and security is a top priority. The Town of Gulf Stream police station is less than a mile from campus. Its officers provide daily patrols and are present at drop-off and pick-up. The School is also protected by an armed security guard. The campus has cameras throughout and buildings are outfitted with hurricane impact windows and doors. Evacuation and lockdown drills are practiced routinely.
