FamilyMy wife, Doreen, and I welcomed our first baby (Weston) in September (hopefully GSS class of 2037). My brother, Jon, and my sister, Becka, both attended GSS as well.
How did your years at GSS benefit you in all of your post-graduate experiences and help make you who you are today?I’m biased, but I think the class of ’99 was very special, and I’m still great friends with many of my classmates.
From an academic standpoint, the emphasis on reading and writing was incredibly important. I always felt that I had a leg up on other students as I progressed through high school and college.
Also, I think Latin class helped tremendously with vocabulary and was a huge help on standardized testing.
Who was your favorite teacher(s) and/or what was your favorite subject(s)?Mr. Wilson for eighth-grade history and Mrs. Wilson for fifth-grade science!
Side story that I think is very cool: Mr. Wilson and I went to the same college in Upstate New York. When I was a freshman, he and Mrs. Wilson had recently retired in the Adirondacks and they came to visit and brought me cookies.
Any special experiences, memories or quotes?I have so many, but some of the highlights include hanging out on the beach, beating Saint Andrew’s in sports, Field Day, amazing teachers, and a group of friends that I have known for 35 years.
High school, college(s) and graduate school(s) attended (include any degrees, awards, recognitions, etc. from your academic, artistic, athletic or other extracurricular activities):After GSS, I attended Saint Andrew’s School. I then went to Hamilton College in New York and the University of Miami School of Law.
