Summer Programs

Gulf Stream School offers a variety of summer camps and activities, both on and off campus. Check out the list of campus for Summer 2020 below and be sure to signup!

SESSION 1

 

VIRTUAL THEATRE CAMP - Grades 1 - 4, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Campers will get to experience a variety of what the performing arts have to offer with Miss Allie and Miss Rachel! The camp will run from 9:00-11:00 AM, Monday-Friday. Those hours will be broken down into shorter time slots, giving students the opportunity to learn acting, singing, dancing, AND improv. Contact Miss Allie at akaplan@gulfstreamschool.org with questions. (Min. participation- 5 students; Max.- 20 students) Cost: $150/week per student. VIRTUAL Stories and Snacks - Grades 1-4, 11 AM-12:00 PM

With your favorite snack and in a cozy place, join Mrs. Paskal as we explore different read alouds! We'll listen, discuss, and draw/write about a different story each day, all while enjoying fun treats! Contact Mrs. Paskal at lpaskal@gulfstreamschool.org with questions. VIRTUAL Game Time!  - Grades 1 - 4, 11:00-11:30 AM

Join Mrs. Paskal for some exciting virtual games! We will explore a new game each day, such as Scattergories, Boggle, and Bingo! Contact Mrs. Paskal at lpaskal@gulfstreamschool.org with questions. (Min. participation- 5 students) Cost: $40/week per student

GSS Sports Reactivation Camp - Entering Grades 2-5, 9:00 a.m. โ€“ 12:00 p.m.

Missing sports, being outside, and having fun with friends and classmates? (Six feet away at all times of course). Come to practice fundamental skills of basketball, soccer, and lacrosse (no direct contact) daily. We'll be doing some fun drills and competitions that reinforce various skills and encourage physical activity. Please join us each day for some additional fun and safe activities such as frisbee golf, a punt, pass, kick competition, and volleyball. Each camper will be provided his/her own basic equipment that ONLY they will touch throughout the day/week. Students must provide their own water and snacks. ๐—ฃ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—น๐—น๐—ผ๐˜„ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐—ด๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜€: - Students must wear sneakers; - Sunblock recommended; - Face masks by participants are optional. (Teachers will be masked). Areas and equipment will be sanitized regularly. All other Gulf Stream School and camp-related guidelines and restrictions MUST be followed at all times. Campers will work with Miss Allie and Miss Rachel to put on a new play each week that is specifically designed to be performed online. We will rehearse Monday through Thursday, and film on Friday. On the weekend, get your popcorn ready and enjoy watching your childโ€™s virtual play at home with your family. Theatre and improv games will be played as well, giving your children a fun, creative outlet for their day. This camp will run from 12:00-2:30 PM, Monday-Friday. Fun In The Sun - For children entering PreK-3 through Grade 1, 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM

As during school, daily classes will include group circle time, practice with reading and writing, and activities involving various math concepts. The children will engage in dramatic play, crafting, cooking, puzzling, playing games, and physical education. Please contact Nicole Hoffman at nhoffman@gulfstreamschool.org with any questions. A structured program of creative play, arts and crafts, music, language activities, and outside games. Children will have daily circle time during which readiness concepts will be presented and explored, such as, letters and sounds, rhyming, colors, shapes, numbers, and math strategies. We will use manipulatives, read alouds, and hands-on activities to enhance our learning. Children should wear play clothes and sneakers every day. Summer Breeze - For children entering Grades 2 through 6, 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM 

Your child can expect the unexpected when he or she joins Mrs. Cooper for a few weeks of Summer Breeze. Spend the days adventuring, creating art, playing games, experimenting with actual scientists, playing tennis, completing hands-on STEM activities including 3D Printing, programming, and a variety of educational enrichment through play. We will also travel to the beach, of course! All activities will provide rewarding experiences and lasting memories! Please provide a nutritious snack and lunch each day. Endless Summer For children entering Grades 1 through 4,  8:30 AM - 12:30 PM

During Endless Summer, we will review academic material in a fun way to boost childrenโ€™s knowledge and solidify the previous yearsโ€™ skills. Academic Camp For children entering Grades 4 through 8,  8:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Developmental and Enrichment Math - The math program is designed to meet the needs of each student. Some will review and practice the topics presented during the past school year, while others will be challenged by new topics. For each, the daily work will be varied, incorporating technology, projects, manipulatives, and traditional textbook work. Developmental and Enrichment Reading/Language Arts - The English program will be tailored to the needs of each student. Students will work on improving their vocabulary, reading comprehension, grammar, and writing. To enrich their knowledge, the students will face challenges in writing strategies, critical thinking, and analysis. Students will attend four classes each day with a break for recess. Most will take two English and two math sessions daily, although this can be modified for those who need extra work in either. Roar Into Reading, For children entering Grades 5 and 6, 12:30 - 2:30 PM

Tailored to incoming Fifth and Sixth Grade students, this camp is designed to help students fall in love with those summer books! Led by Mrs. Tkac, topics covered include character, setting, point of view, literary terms, and vocabulary. Children will return to school ahead of the game with a thorough understanding of what they have read. Fifth Graders will need to have completed Among the Hidden and Sixth Graders will need to have read Because of Mr. Terupt before camp begins. Mission Organization, For children entering Grade 5, 12:30 - 2:30 PM

Mrs. Tkac will help students get a head start for the coming school year by teaching proper note-taking and listening skills, careful organization of notebooks and lockers, and other tasks which will prepare them for a smooth transition to Middle School.
