Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten Physical Education
Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten Physical Education Benefits
Physical activity has proven to be beneficial to students and their academic achievement. Physical education in the Pre-kindergarten Division emphasizes the exploration of movement, equipment, pathways, and levels as well as body and spatial awareness. Our program provides an opportunity for social interaction, cooperative skills, and problem solving. Emphasis is placed on following multi-step directions and rules as well as on self-control. The children use a variety of equipment such as bean bags, hula hoops, various balls, carpet squares, the parachute, and the earth ball.
Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten Physical Education Goals
In addition to physical skills, primary goals of the physical education program are the development of self-confidence and a positive self-image in each child as well as senses of sportsmanship, team work and fair play.
Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten Physical Education Assessments
Students are assessed three times a year on basic physical skills, specialized skills, cooperation, and social behavior.
